HTC Corporation has finally and officially unveiled the HTC HD2, the first Windows phone with the HTC Sense UI. With its high-resolution, 4.3-inch capacitive touch display, the ultra thin HTC HD2 is aimed at delivering a more visible content in a sharper, brighter and richer way.

“HTC has a long history of innovation with Windows Mobile shipping millions of devices over the years in a wide range of designs,” said Andy Lees, senior vice president, Mobile Communication Business, Microsoft Corp. “The HTC HD2 Windows phone breaks new ground with its responsive, touch screen.”

The HD2 uses the first capacitive touch display on a Windows phone. Utilizing Qualcomm’s new 1Ghz Snapdragon mobile processor, the HTC HD2 is designed to offer enhanced performance that should improve the speed of applications, videos, games and more.

The handset’s features also include -

• 4.3-inch touchscreen with a 480 x 800 with 65K colors and Multi-touch capabilities
• Windows Mobile 6.5 OS with Sense UI
• 3G (HSDPA), GPSR/EDGE
• Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi router capabilities), Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, USB v2.0 (mini)
• GPS with A-GPS support and Geotagging (HTC Footprints)
• microSD card support
• 3.5mm earphone socket
• 5MP camera with LED flash
• Stereo FM radio
• DivX , XviD video playback

If the Sense UI for Windows is anything like their Android version on the HTC Hero, it’s going to be quite user-friendly. The HD2 can also be further enhanced by downloading applications at the new Windows Marketplace for Mobile. HTC has also included a new Windows-based version of its Twitter application, HTC Peep. Pictures taken with the 5MP camera can also be quickly shared via Facebook or Twitter.

The HTC HD2 will be available later this month with selected operators across Europe, before rolling out to other regions in the coming months.
